Honda has faith in Barrichello

14 December 2007

Honda team chief executive Nick Fry has moved to reassure Rubens Barrichello that the Japanese outfit still has full faith in him to deliver results in the wake of reports that linked Fernando Alonso with the Brazilian's seat before he re-signed for Renault, and of course Barrichello's first point-less season.

"This year was difficult for Rubens but he's looking incredibly fit," Fry told Autosport. "He's obviously training very hard and has got someone in Ross Brawn that he's worked with before and knows exactly what he's capable of. That's really motivated him."

"For someone who has been in F1 at a top team like Ferrari for a long time, when he ended up with a weak car then motivation does get more difficult," Fry added. "He has promised me for next year that he is going to: 'drive his balls off!' "
