Silverstone pit wall works on the way

18 December 2007

The Silverstone circuit began its work to build an all-new pit wall at the Formula 1 track that will play host to the British Grand Prix on July 6th 2008. The current pit wall is being removed and it is expected that the new pit wall won't be ready until around the end of January.

The new wall - built with 10km of steel reinforcing bars; 1000 cubic metres of concrete; 330 metres of debris fencing and rear tubular handrail; and movement joints to control thermal expansion and contraction - is being worked on through the Christmas break by the construction team to ensure it is completed by the end of January 2008.
