Trulli hopes to get Toyota to the top
31 December 2007Jarno Trulli was unhappy with his performance in 2007 at Toyota. The Italian finished thirteenth in the drivers' standings with only eight points, while his team-mate Ralf Schumacher scored just five points. In 2008 Trulli hopes to take the team a step forward and close the gap with the top teams.
"We know what we have to do to improve and I firmly believe we will do it," said Trulli. "I'm happy traction control will be banned next year. I feel comfortable about this and I think we will all get used to it. Of course some drivers will like it and some won't but in the end I don't think it will be a major factor in changing the degree of competitiveness among the teams.
"Our team has got the potential and the resources necessary for success. Even though we have less experience as a team than most of the opposition, we still have everything it takes to produce a good racing car. It's true that our performance in the last couple of seasons was below expectations, but inside me the desire and belief that we can turn it around is as strong as ever.
"We have always tried to show that we are working hard and doing our best. By continuing to do that improvement will surely come. I'm very motivated to do my share of the work because I don't like losing. This year I was fighting to get into the top ten, which was hard to accept after getting on the podium and fighting for victory in 2005. I am more motivated than ever to help bring the team up to where it belongs."
