Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has begun his job at the Renault Formula 1 team this week. The Spaniard officially joined the Enstone based team on January 1st. He returned after just one season with the McLaren Formula One team.
Alonso is already busying himself with the development of Renault's all-new R28 - the car that should bring Renault back on the podium again. The team was able to finish just one race on the podium with Heikki Kovalainen, who replaced Alonso at McLaren. In 2005 and 2006 Fernando Alonso won the F1 championship title with Renault.
Alonso will return on track in two weeks time in Jerez de la Frontera. From 14 to 16 January he will be testing in the South of Spain with Renault's R27. One week later he will complete his first laps in the R28 in Valencia.
