Mercedes invites Ralf Schumacher to test in DTM

Ralf Schumacher will be testing an AMG Mercedes C-Class at Estoril this week. The German was invited by Mercedes to test for the German car manufacturer's DTM team in Portugal. Schumacher's Formula 1 career finished after a test session at Jerez with Force India in December.

The DTM series could be an option for Ralf Schumacher, who could step into the footsteps of other former F1 drivers such as Mika Hakkinen and Jean Alesi.

"For a long time already, there was an agreement between Ralf Schumacher and Norbert Haug that he would test a DTM car when the occasion occurred. Now, this occasion has occurred for the first time", a Mercedes-Benz spokesman told DTM.com. "However, what happens after this test is completely open."
