Hamilton enjoyed tricky conditions at Jerez
17 January 2008The Formula 1 teams finished a three-day test at Jerez this week. At McLaren Lewis Hamilton completed three days of testing in the past two weeks trying to get used to racing without the help of traction control. The wet conditions on Thursday made it interesting to see how the drivers could cope under these tricky circumstances.

For Lewis Hamilton it was the first day of testing in the wet without the use of traction control on his Formula 1 car on Thursday. Speaking about his latest experience the young Briton said: "It was the first time I have driven in these conditions without traction control and you have to just take it step by step and try to build up to it, because it is slippery. It is even harder without traction control, it really does make it a little bit nervous on corner entry and you just have to deal with it. You have a lot less engine braking, which makes a difference to how you brake and approach the corners. I think times will be similar, but it is a lot more tricky and probably easier to make mistakes."
But when asked if he thought that racing without traction control in the wet would be dangerous Hamilton was pretty clear: "No, its just fun!"
