The few thousand fans in the grandstands in Valencia would have hoped to see some more action on Monday but instead the fog delayed the time on track for Alonso and Hulkenberg. At the end of the day Fernando Alonso was the fastest of the two with his R28.

Both Renault and Williams started their four-day test programme at Valencia on Monday with their new cars. Fernando Alonso debuted the R28 while Williams F1 test driver Nico Hulkenberg completed the first laps with the FW30.

In the morning both drivers had to stay in, waiting for the thick fog to disappear. In the afternoon Hulkenberg completed only 20 laps. His team needed at least an hour to repair the bottom of his FW30 before the German could continue with his test programme.
