McLaren experience has made Alonso stronger - Briatore

Renault boss Flavio Briatore says that Fernando Alonso's experience at McLaren last season has made him an even stronger driver and made him even more hungry for success than when he took his two drivers' titles with the team.

"Fernando has come back to the team with plenty of motivation and aggression," Briatore told the Spanish Marca newspaper. "The experience at McLaren has made him stronger. He's more responsible, motivated and professional - it's changed him for the better."

"I want to see him smile again and when I see him in the factory I see the old Fernando again," he added. "In a sport like F1 where there's lots of pressure and danger you need to feel part of the team and Fernando is definitely part of our team."

"We're delighted he's back and hope he will be happy," Briatore went on. "If he is then the results will follow."
