
Mark Webber showed more of Red Bull Racing's potential today when he surprised at the top of the time sheets with the RB4 at Jerez. His time of 1m18.628s put him 0.4s clear of the two Williams of Rosberg and Nakajima in second and third.
Fernando Alonso joined the test today, bringing several thousand fans to the track and finished fourth fastest in th new Renault, ahead of BMW's Robert Kubica. Yesterday's pace setter Lewis Hamilton was sixth ahead of Coulthard in the second Red Bull. The Scottish driver stopped the session in the morning when he went off track.
Piquet caused the second and final stoppage of the day in the afternoon when his Renault ground to a halt.
Toro Rosso, Super Aguri, Force India and Honda were all in action today and filled out the second half of the time sheet.
Testing continues tomorrow.
