Brawn turns attention to 2009

Brawn turns attention to 2009

22 February 2008

Honda's new team principal Ross Brawn says the team has not shown its true potential in winter testing and is unlikely to do so for the next few months. Instead he said the team's best chance was still to come in 2009 when F1 will see plenty of new regulations.

"I don't think what we're seeing on track, or will see at the start of the season or for the next few months will be the team's actual potential," Brawn said. "The team has a lot of potential though."

"What is very important is 2009, because there will be new regulations," he added. "That gives Honda a very strong opportunity to start with a blank sheet. In 2008 I'm going to have to balance the resource for improving 2008 and investing in 2009."

"I'm looking at our programme over at least three years for winning races and championships," he went on.
