Silverstone fortunes improve

Silverstone's fortunes have improved according to the circuit's latest accounts and amid continued calls for organisers to forge ahead with improvements to secure the venue's place on the F1 tour.

In the 18 months to the end of 2006, the circuit made a £13million gross profit and earnings after tax of £1.3m, up from a £2.6m loss the year before.
