Renault needs to rebuild confidence - Alonso

Fernando Alonso says Renault needs to rebuild its confidence after a difficult 2007 season, if it is to regain the kind of form that helped him and the team to two championships in 2005 and 2006.

"Two years ago the team had more confidence in its ability after two titles," Alonso told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper. "Now, every time something new is out on track, they feel like then need to keep their fingers crossed - that's the negative effect 2007 has had."

"However, in 2004 we had problems and the following year we won the championship," Alonso added. "I'm convinced we can do it again, the team knows how to do it."
