McLaren F1 team boss Ron Dennis has said he was close on standing down from his position as the team's team boss. The Briton though decided to stay for at least another year as he has still something to contribute he said in Melbourne.
"(Chief executive) Martin Whitmarsh has taken more and more responsibility over the last three years, that was by design," Dennis was quoted by Reuters in Melbourne. "I had thought pretty much at the beginning of last season it would be my last grand prix season of going to races, purely because of how long I've done it.
"We've been sharing the workload for many years and I give him more every year," said Dennis. "I want to win races and I think I have something to contribute but we will have to see how the season unfolds."
