Hamilton fastest in second practice
14 March 2008 / Results / PhotosMcLaren driver Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap in Friday's second free practice session in Melbourne. The 23-year-old Briton completed his fastest lap in 1.26.599 and was almost a second faster than the second fastest man Mark Webber. Webber's team-mate Coulthard also surprised a few to complete the fifth fastest time of the day.
The second free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix weekend got underway in 39 degrees Celsius. In the first half an hour the drivers weren't that active yet to complete a fast lap. But after thirty minutes the action began for the Australian race fans. Many drivers were searching for the limit in Albert Park as almost every driver had at least one moment off track.
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber showed he is well on the pace at his home track as he topped the time sheets for most of Friday's second free practice session. It wasn't until Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap of the day, almost a second faster than Webber, in the final minutes of session.
At Super Aguri the team is mostly happy to be present in Melbourne and to have most of their financial problems solved. The team though clearly has a lack of speed in Melbourne.
