"We got a really good start and were quite close in the first corner, but I pulled a good gap from there and just looked after the tyres," Hamilton said. "From then on I just paced myself and had plenty left so just used that to look after the tyres. There was a time in the second stint where I had to put the pedal down because of the safety car but it was a good challenge and we did a great job."
"The car was phenomenal and a complete dream to drive compared with last year," he added. "Pulling me in early on both my stops saved us too because of the safety car periods. The team analyses what is going on and plans for the worst and things like that so pulled me in early."
"I feel fantastic and never would have thought it would have been as physically a breeze as it was," he went on. "Great preparation for Malaysia - bring it on, I'm ready for it."
