Heidfeld feared it was lost at start

Nick Heidfeld admitted he thought his race was over and that his chance of a podium was shot at the start of the race when a poor start saw him lose position to Nico Rosberg in the Williams.

"After the start I thought it wouldn't be a good race because I knew that Nico Rosberg was going quite long - luckily he came in on the same lap with me so what we lost on the start we made up in the pit stops," Heidfeld said. 

"I was lucky on the pit stops in terms of the safety car but we had really good pace still," he added. "I had a lot of wheelspin at the start and tried to close the door to Nico but there was no chance."
