Organisers of the Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit are to wait and see how teams feel about the event becoming a night race from next year onwards. The idea comes amid increased pressure from F1 bosses to ensure that long-haul Grand Prix are still able to be screened at hospitable times, in the key European market.
"Right now the night race is only an option," Sepang's general manager Datuk Azmi Murad told the New Straits Times. "Nothing has been decided yet. We're still gathering feedback and including the drivers and teams in F1 and MotoGP in that before we can doa proper evaluation."
"It isn't only about whether we should do it or not, it's also about how we want to do it, what kind of lighting and where it should be located and so on," he added. "The decision will also be based on whether it is viable economically."
