Hamilton - I did the best I could
23 March 2008 / Results / PhotosLewis Hamilton was insistent that he got the most he could out of the Malaysian Grand Prix today after finishing in fifth place behind Jarno Trulli. The McLaren driver started from ninth on the grid and lost 12 seconds in his first pit stop as mechanics struggled to change his front right tyre. Hamilton then found himself following Mark Webber for much of the race.
"We got off to a very good start, I was happy with that to go from ninth to fifth," Hamilton said. "I was pushing Mark Webber along all the time, but following someone is very difficult, it doesn't matter how fast you are - he drove very well."
"I did the best job I could," he added. "I pushed very hard to get fourth at the end and believed I could get it but Jarno did a great job and drove very well. I think we just have to do a better job in qualifying next time."
Hamilton still leads the drivers' championship with 14 points, while Kimi Raikkonen and Nick Heidfeld both have 11. McLaren team mate Heikki Kovalainen is fourth with 10 points.
