Klien impressed by BMW pace

31 March 2008

BMW test driver Christian Klien says even he's been surprised and impressed by the team's results in the first two races of the season, after he tested the team's new car when it was initially struggling in winter testing.

"It is a sensational result for the team, to stand on the podium at its home race in Malaysia," Klien said. "Robert really drove a fantastic race. At the moment, we are second in the Constructors' Championship, which is a great performance. It shows that all the hard work over the winter has paid off."

"Nick's fastest lap in Malaysia shows that we have the necessary speed," Klien added. "To get the fastest lap ahead of Ferrari was certainly not something we had reckoned with."
