Max Mosley has apologised to members of the FIA for the embarrassment caused by last Sunday's exposé of his private life, but refused to stand down as president of F1's governing body.
The News of The World newspaper exposed a video which allegedly shows Mosley engaged in a 'sick Nazi orgy with five hookers.'
Mosley sent a letter on Tuesday to senior FIA members and officials apologising for any embarrassment the revelations may have caused and blaming the allegations on a 'covert' effort to discredit him. He added that he intends to take legal action against the newspaper for the article.
Mosley stopped short of denying it was actually him in the video released by the newspaper and instead focused in his letter on pledging to take legal action against the newspaper for invading his privacy. He also insisted he would continue in his role as FIA president.
Mosley was scheduled to travel to Bahrain for this weekend's Grand Prix, but it remains to be seen if he will actually go through with those travel plans, given the current media climate around him.
