Felipe Massa clocked the fastest time in Friday morning's first free practice session ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver completed his fastest lap in 1.32.233, just ahead of team mate Kimi Raikkonen and Williams driver Nico Rosberg.

The 90-minute free practice session started prettty calm in Bahrain. After thirty minutes there were only eight drivers who completed a timed lap in Bahrain. After those thirty minutes it was Jarno Trulli leading the time sheets ahead of Nico Rosberg and Timo Glock.

In the second thirty minutes Felipe Massa completed the fastest lap of the session already with a 1.32.233. There were no other drivers that managed to complete a faster lap on Friday morning. Kimi Raikkonen was only one tenth of a second behind his Brazilian team mate.

At Williams both Nico Rosberg (third) and Kazuki Nakajima (sixth) showed a strong start of the Grand Prix weekend. At Honda though Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello stayed in for most of the session. It wasn't until the final ten minutes of the session that they showed themselves on track. The duo ended in a disappointing 18th and 19th position.
