04 April 2008 / Results / PhotosFerrari driver Felipe Massa showed a great start to the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend. The Brazilian, who was unable to finish the first two races, dominated both free practice sessions on Friday. In Friday's second free practice session Massa was almost a second ahead of team mate Raikkonen. Lewis Hamilton suffered from a heavy crash but got out unharmed.
As the lights turned green at the start of Friday's second free practice there were immidiatly a number of drivers on track. Toyota drivers Trulli and Glock led the field, while not much later Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap. Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais did surprisingly well. The Frenchman completed the second fastest in the first period of the session.
In the morning many drivers complained about the lack of grip in Sakhir. A few drivers had their moments off track but there were no major crashes. That would change in the afternoon though. Lewis Hamilton spun off pretty hard. There was a lot of damaged to his McLaren after he hit the tyre barriers. Hamilton got out of the car without any problems, but his mechanics will have to work until midnight to prepare his car for Saturday's free practice session.
Felipe Massa dominated most of the session. In the final minutes the Brazilian managed to improve the day's fastest lap by a mile, keeping his team mate Raikkonen well behind him.
