BMW hopes to shake up order in Spain

09 April 2008

BMW is hoping to make a major step forward ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix and shake up the pecking order in F1 for good, after the team's consistent run of podium finishes in the first three races of the season put it at the head of the constructors' table after the Bahrain Grand Prix.

"The next step will be in Barcelona and we'll have a chance to test there before and every team will have a huge development package there," BMW team boss Mario Theissen told Reuters. "It could change the pecking order, depending on how strong the development packages are."

"We have quite a significant upgrade on the aero side as well as on the chassis side," he added. "The performance potential of the car is much higher than last year's and the more you go to the limit, the more difficult it is to fully exploit that potential and fine tune the package so that it works in all conditions."
