Max Mosley will face a vote of confidence in his role as president of the FIA, motorsport's governing body has confirmed. The vote will be a secret ballot of members and comes after Mosley was forced to call an extraordinary general meeting in Paris, following calls for him to step down after a newspaper exposed details of his private life.
A statement issued by the FIA read, "The FIA can confirm that the members of the Senate have unanimously approved the proposal of the President of the FIA, that further to the recent press coverage relating to his private life, an Extraordinary General Assembly should be convened."
The vote will be held on June 3, 2008, in Paris, if Mosley can hold onto power until then and continue to fend off growing calls for him to step down.
