Renault promises Alonso improvement in Spain

Renault has promised Fernando Alonso an improvement in its car performance ahead of the Spaniard's home Grand Prix in Barcelona at the end of the month. The reassurance from Renault engineering chief comes after Alonso could do nothing to finish better than tenth in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

"We're working on an updated aerodynamics package that is going very well," said Symonds. "I'd be very surprised if that hasn't found us around half a second a lap and our rivals only find about a 0.3s a lap improvement before then."

Symonds went on to sing Alonso's praises saying, "Fernando is still driving his heart out which is great, that's what we really like about him - his complete commitment."
