Alonso goes fastest at Barcelona

Fernando Alonso went fastest on the third day of testing at Barcelona as the Spaniard tested slick tyres on his Renault for the first time this week. Alonso stole the limelight from Michael Schumacher who was back in the cockpit for Ferrari and finished second, also on slicks.

Adrian Sutil was third in the Force India car on slicks ahead of Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg and Rubens Barrichello, all running on slicks. Kubica caused a red flag when he crashed in the afternoon, but still managed to cover 112 laps in the day.

Behind them Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Bourdais, Mark Webber and Jarno Trulli rounded off the top ten as they were the only drivers to spend the full day on grooved tyres. Bourdais also caused a red flag when he crashed heavily after 71 laps.

Testing at Barcelona concludes tomorrow.
