Alonso admits it's difficult to stay motivated
22 April 2008After a difficult year with the McLaren Formula 1 team Fernando Alonso returned to Renault in 2008. Even though the team might have showed him a warm welcome the situation within the team didn't get much better for Alonso. The team is struggling to score points in every race and the Spaniard has now admitted after just three races it is difficult to stay motivated.

"My main priority now is to start winning races again," Alonso said in an interview with Spanish newspaper El País. "Two years ago, after winning my second championship title, I might had other priorities but now I'm not racing in front of the pack again and want my revenge I am thinking about winning races for 99% of the time.
"I know it is hard to stay motivated. Every time I have to start a race from tenth for example I believe I can still achieve a great result, but after three or four laps I already realise I should just make the best of it and can't wait to get the next flight home.
"At every Grand Prix there is hope, and at the Spanish Grand Prix I really hope I can finish on the podium. If I don't, I will just try again at the next race. The results aren't there yet, but the motivation is there at the start of each race. It's just getting less on Saturday and on Sunday. But on Thursday ahead of a Grand Prix I found my motivation again."
