According to Renault F1 team boss Flavio Briatore the Ferrari team was right not to hire Fernando Alonso. The Italian believes Alonso and Raikkonen would never give the team the maximum result as both drivers are extremely talented.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said earlier this week that he was never interested to hire double world champion Fernando Alonso after he left McLaren in 2007 because the Spaniard's arrival would damage the Italian's team.
Briatore agrees with Di Montezemolo. Briatore said: "When a team has two drivers equally good the team mates become their greatest enemies. Drivers such as Raikkonen and Alonso are complicated and putting them in one team does not always produce the best results for a team. Last year at McLaren for example. Hamilton and Alonso lost the drivers' championship and the reason was simply because of their rivalry."
