Heidfeld fastest in final practice
26 April 2008 / Results / PhotosBMW Sauber F1 driver Nick Heidfeld completed the fastest lap on Saturday morning in Spain. The German set his fastest lap with five minutes to go in the one-hour free practice session. He was just ahead of Red Bull driver David Coulthard and Renault driver Fernando Alonso. Raikkonen, who dominated on Friday, ended thirteenth.
The third and final free practice session at Circuit de Catalunya was a pretty quiet session. It was clear that most teams were well prepared after last week's four-day test session at this track.
During the 60-minute free practice session Red Bull driver Mark Webber came to a stop at the start of the pitlane when his car gave up on him with a technical problem.
After 30 minutes David Coulthard topped the time sheets. For a long time the Scotsman was over half a second faster than anyone else on track. Just five minutes before the end of the session Nick Heidfeld completed his fastest lap, being two tenths of a second faster than Coulthard.
The qualifying session will start on Saturday afternoon at 14.00.
