Lewis Hamilton was very happy to be back on the podium at the Circuit de Catalunya after a couple of tough races in Malaysia and Bahrain. Hamilton is now second in the championship with 20 points, nine behind Kimi Raikkonen.

"It's good to be back and when we qualified fifth we knew it would be very tough to beat the Ferraris," Hamilton said. "We had to make a good start and then we might be able to have a good race, and I did that."

"We knew Fernando was a bit lighter so we had an opportunity there and in the end I was able to keep up with Felipe Massa and keep pushing, but they seem a bit better with the tyres so there's room for improvement," he added.

"It was very close out there" Hamilton went on. "A good result for the team, and unfortunately not great for Heikki but I'm glad he's ok. We had a couple of tough races so it's good to be back on the podium.
