BMW on par with McLaren - Klien

BMW on par with McLaren - Klien

02 May 2008

BMW Sauber test driver Christian Klien says the balance of power in F1 has not changed dramatically since the Spanish Grand Prix and while Ferrari remains on top he claims McLaren and BMW are on a very similar performance level.

"The balance of power has not really changed. Ferrari is still on top," said Klien. "I think we are very close to McLaren. Our lap times in Barcelona were actually almost identical. We would have finished ahead of McLaren if we had started the race ahead of them. I think the performance levels are quite similar."

Heading to Turkey, Klien claims that things might not be as close. "I think the time differences between the teams are a bit bigger, as we only drive once a year there," he added. "It is a long circuit, and the teams do not know it as well as Barcelona. I don't think the balance of power will change not very much, as there are no test sessions between now and then."
