Kovalainen comes back quicker

Heikki Kovalainen has returned from his high-speed head-on crash in the Spanish Grand Prix to out-pace team mate Lewis Hamilton in qualifying at Istanbul. The two McLaren drivers will start from second and third on the grid.

"It's been a bit of a roller coaster the past couple of weeks with the big accident in Spain and I was lucky not to have any injuries and recover fully," Kovalainen said after qualifying second.

"Coming here I knew I'd pass the medical because I was feeling 100 per cent," he added. "I've been feeling really competitive in the car all weekend and it's a pleasure to start from the front row. We should be able to have a good race. It felt pretty normal getting back in the car and already by the end of last week I was feeling back to normal."
