Webber hopes to extend contract at Red Bull Racing

Webber hopes to extend contract at Red Bull Racing

11 May 2008

Mark Webber has said he hopes he can continue to race with the Red Bull Racing team for another season. The Australian's contract ends at the end of this season but if it's up to Webber he will extend his contract with the team.

"We are talking now," Webber was quoted as saying by Reuters. "I am free next year but I am massively keen to stay here, obviously."

The Red Bull team managed to move up the field this season, which is a good motivation for Webber to continue racing with the team. "When you are getting smoked down at the back every week and it's tough, I'd rather be riding my mountain bike with my dog," he admitted. "Everyone is very excited about today's qualifying but I always try to keep a bit of a level head on it as well. We have had a good run in the last few races, now we've got to try and continue it. Consistency is the key in any sport and if we can hold station where we are now, that is a very good achievement. But then we have to go to that next level."
