As you could expect in the narrow streets of Monaco there were a number of incidents. After 50 minutes into the session there were red flags. Not for a crashed driver, but for a loose drain that had to be fixed to prevent drivers from running into the drain and damage their cars. It took marshals about 15 minutes to fix the drain cover.
David Coulthard faced a technical problem with his car. Heading into the tunnel he lost power and had to park his Red Bull car at the Nouvelle Chicane. Nick Heidfeld was also one of the drivers that had to stop his car. The German also ran into a technical problem and parked his car at Casino.
Jarno Trulli was the first driver to damage his car. He hit the barriers with his left rear tyre and damaged his rear wheel suspension.
