Kovalainen fastest in the dry

Heikki Kovalainen completed the fastest lap on Saturday morning in the final free practice session in Monaco. The McLaren driver completed his fastest lap while the track was still dry. With 20 minutes left in the session though a rain shower made it even more interesting to watch the action in Monaco.

Saturday morning's free practice session was an interesting one to watch. At the start of the session the track was declared wet, even though there were little wet spots on track to be seen. After 40 minutes though the Formula 1 drivers faced rain showers and they were unable to improve their fastest lap times.

There weren't many incidents on Saturday morning. Heikki Kovalainen completed the fastest lap early into the session but also spun his car and hit the barriers. His right rear wheel was damaged so the Finn was unable to continue. Red flags made it easier fro the marshals to remove the McLaren from the track.

Qualifying will start at 14.00 hours and more rain showers are expected in Monaco today.
