Massa shocked by Monaco pole
24 May 2008 / Results / PhotosFelipe Massa had a broad smile on his face and said he couldn't believe that he had clinched pole position for tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix. The Brazilian had been quite vocal before the qualifying session, that the streets of Monte Carlo are not his favourite place to race.
"I still can't believe I'm on pole," Massa said. "I was pushing very hard and this has been the place I was dreading every time I come here. On the first day I was really still behind in the second sector, but today I managed to pull everything together to have a good lap and a great car and I still can't believe I'm on pole here."
"My first lap wasn't bad, but I saw I was missing some time in a couple of corners and I saw the lap time was only a couple of tenths off Kimi and Lewis," Massa added. "I knew I could improve a little bit and that they would improve too, but I improved a lot and did a perfect lap at Monaco where it's almost impossible to do a perfect lap!"
