Hamilton fastest in Montreal
06 June 2008 / Results / PhotosChampionship leader Lewis Hamilton completed Friday's fastest lap. The Briton set the fastest lap of the day in the afternoon at 1.15.752 and was three tenths ahead of Robert Kubica and Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton's team mate, Heikki Kovalainen, ended fourth.
While the Formula One drivers in Montreal faced a damp track in the morning, the afternoon session took place on a completely dry track. There were still a number of drivers though going over the limit. Fernando Alonso for example spun twice at turn one. Team mate Nelson Piquet faced a difficult start of the weekend. The Brazilian finished at the bottom of the time sheets and suffered from braking problems.
McLaren, Ferrari and BMW are close in Montreal and promise an interesting qualifying battle on Saturday.
According to the latest weather reports there will be no rain on Saturday but thunderstorms on Sunday.
