BMW boss remains realistic

BMW boss remains realistic

11 June 2008

BMW boss Mario Theissen has rightly been enjoying the moment his team became F1 winners on Sunday in Canada, but is remaining realistic about what the latest milestone in his outfit's history means.

"We set ourselves the goal to close the gap to the front-runners this season and secure our maiden Grand Prix win. With seven races of the season contested we now can say: 'Mission accomplished'," Theissen said.

"Throughout the season to date, we have no longer been the third power on the grid but one of the three top teams," he added. "And the fact that Robert has taken the lead in the Drivers' Championship represents the icing on the cake."

"However, we must remain realistic," he insisted. "With eleven more races to go, this is just a 'snap-shot' and nothing else. We will continue focusing on each forthcoming race at a time aiming to add further points to our tally."
