While Lewis Hamilton may think his ten-place grid penalty for his clumsy collision with Kimi Raikkonen in the Canadian Grand Prix is a bit harsh, Raikkonen insists it is fair and that the McLaren driver deserves what he got.
"I still can't believe it, that someone can hit you while you're stood, waiting for the red light next to another car," Raikkonen was quoted as saying by Autosport. "I can't imagine how Hamilton could not see the red lights or the two cars standing still in front of him."
"I think he deserves the penalty," he added. "He loses ten places on the grid which will make it more difficult for him in France. Besides that we lost the possibility to have a good result in Canada and at the moment the safety car came out my car was running very fast and we could have won, or in the worst case have come second."
"Accidents happen, but it's difficult not to see two cars standing still ahead of you," he added.
