Hamilton says he can win in France

12 June 2008

Lewis Hamilton says he can still win the French Grand Prix despite being given a ten-place grid penalty for crashing into the back of Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the Canadian Grand Prix pit lane.

"I'm feeling quite confident that we can still win there," Hamilton told Reuters despite the fact that the best position he can start from in France will be 11th on the grid.

"I've got to have that belief in myself and the team," he added. "I still feel we can finish in the top three but it's going to be a real challenge."

Hamilton denied the incident in Canada, where he didn't see a red light until too late, is a career low.

"It was nowhere near one of my lowest points," he insisted. "I don't even particularly feel it was a low point. It was one of those things you just have to come to terms with and move on. In the race I was at the top of my game."
