Alonso unsure about future at Renault

16 June 2008

Former Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso has a difficult season at Renault so far. The double world champ scored only nine points so far simply because his package is not good enough to fight for a podium position this season. The Spaniard has now said the year has been worse than expected.

As soon as Alonso was announced as Renault's driver for the 2008 season the rumours started how long he could cope with the team's package. It was no surprise to see the team struggle in the midfield but it left Alonso unhappy behind the wheel of the team's R28. When Alonso was asked if he will stay for another season at Renault he commented on Monday morning: "I don't know…. It's not been a good year so far and it has been worse than we expected. We have not been on the podium, let alone won a race.

"We have a lot of work to do. I will take a decision on my future towards the end of the year when we'll be able to see how far we have come."
