Renault F1 driver Fernando Alonso pleased his team's home crowd on Friday afternoon with the fastest time in Friday's second free practice session. Alonso stayed ahead of Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. Sebastian Vettel surprised a few as the young German ended fifth.
The French Grand Prix weekend continue at the Circuit de Nevers on Friday afternoon with the second 90-minute free practice session. It is the Renault team's home Grand Prix this weekend and the team's driver Fernando Alonso already said earlier this week he will do the best he can to show the local fans a strong performance. And even though Alonso might have completed his fastest lap this afternoon in an ultra-light car, he did top the time sheets and pleased the Renault fans in France for a day.
Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen closely followed Alonso in second and third. Ferrari looks strong at Magny-Cours but McLaren is extremely close behind. At Toro Rosso Sebastian Vettel completed an incredible quick lap out of his STR3. He was half a second faster than his team mate and only French driver Sebastien Bourdais.
