The Formula 1 drivers are unhappy with the increasing costs of their super license. During a meeting of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) it became clear the drivers want to discuss the increased costs of the super license.
Every F1 driver needs a super license in order to be allowed to participate in a Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. The license costs would increase to 10,000 euros per year plus 2,000 euro extra for every point a driver scored. The costs used to be just 1,725 as a fixed fee and 456 euros for each point.
GPDA director Fernando Alonso was quoted by Autosport.com saying: "It is a very serious matter, and we were talking about (the) super licence price in the last couple of GPDA meetings. It has to be agreed between us, and we all agree that it is not fair that from one year to the next it (the cost) increases 500-600 percent.
"It is something we need to look at, and I don't know what will be the solution and what will be our effort, but if there is a strike in Silverstone then maybe it is one possibility."
