Renault driver Nelson Piquet completed the fastest lap in this morning's one-hour free practice session. The Brazilian completed his fastest lap in 1.15.750 and was only just ahead of Red Bull's Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

The third and final free practice session at Magny-Cours got underway at 11.00 am under clear and sunny skies. In the opening minutes there were only a few drivers completing an installation lap. Most drivers waited in their pitbox for the first fifteen minutes of the session.

Sebastien Bourdais pleased his home crowd when he was the first Formula 1 driver to complete a flying lap. Soon his colleagues followed and it was Toro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel topping the time sheets after 25 minutes.

With twenty minutes left in the session Nelson Piquet came out on soft tyres. He completed his flying lap in 1.15.750 and topped the time sheets. There was no other F1 driver who tried to improve this morning's fastest lap time.

There were a number of drivers this morning that enjoyed a moment off track. Bourdais, Vettel, Glock, Hamilton and Coulthard all went off but managed to continue without any problems.
