Kovalainen fastest at Silverstone

McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen set the fastest time at Silverstone on Wednesday. The Finn completed the fastest lap in 1.20.015 and was just ahead of Toyota's Jarno Trulli. Fisichella suffered from a heavy crashed and was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary checks.

The second day of testing at Silverstone started under cloudy conditions. The track was damp as team got on track in the early morning. The track dried reasonably quickly fortunately though for the teams to continue their test programme.

While Vettel was able to complete just ten laps on Tuesday due to technical problems the German managed to complete 84 laps on Wednesday. He ended the day in fifth in the time sheets.

Giancarlo Fisichella crashed heavily just before lunch at Beckets. Due to a lack of grip he went off and crashed into the tyre barriers.

Thursday is the third and final day of testing.
