Lewis Hamilton was the fastest driver in both the first and second free practice session on Friday at Hockenheim. The McLaren driver completed his fastest lap in the afternoon in 1.15.024 and was almost seven tenths of a second ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
The second free practice session took place on a completely dry track. Hamilton was soon the man to beat as he set a 1.15.817 in the first part of the 90-minute session. The Briton had a scary moment when he almost flew into the back of Sebastien Bourdais who was driving slowly for his lap back to the pits. Half way into the session Felipe Massa topped the time sheets and would stay on top for most of the session with a 1.15.722.
In the final part of the free practice session both Hamilton and Raikkonen were completing flying laps to complete the fastest lap of the afternoon. Hamilton completed his perfect lap in the end in 1.15.025 and was over half a second faster than anyone else.
