A delighted Ron Dennis explained his team's decision not to pit Lewis Hamilton from the lead under the safety car, despite his immediate rivals pitting at the same time. The decision meant Hamilton had to go out and find a way past Massa and Piquet in the final fifteen laps.
"We expected the safety car to come in earlier as there wasn't much debris on the circuit and knew we'd be a second-and-a-half quicker a lap," Dennis said. "We put on some overtaking to show it's still possible in F1!"
"We didn't thin there was much debris on the circuit and the race would resume three laps earlier, but obviously Charlie Whiting wanted to be better safe than sorry," he added. "We had a lot of pace and slowing him down sometimes was difficult, but we had a great race."
