Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard has also noticed sister team Scuderia Toro Rosso is moving up the field quiet quickly. At last week's German Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel qualified himself between Coulthard and Webber again. Coulthard believes Toro Rosso has an advantage at some tracks compared to Red Bull Racing.
Even though Scuderia Toro Rosso is closely linked to its big brother Red Bull Racing the team is allowed to fight for positions. The team has moved up the field and is now battling with Red Bull Racing for positions on track. According to David Coulthard the Scuderia Toro Rosso team has some advantages at some tracks, while on other tracks Red Bull Racing will be ahead.
Speaking about Scuderia Toro Rosso Coulthard explained: "Toro Rosso took a step up in performance at Hockenheim with Sebastian Vettel splitting Mark and I on the grid and finishing eighth in the race. Although they are the junior Red Bull team, now that they have the new chassis they are fully up to spec.
"Also, there are inevitably differences in engine characteristics between the Ferrari in the back of the STR3 and the Renault in the RB4, which means that at certain circuits they will have an advantage over us. Hockenheim particularly suited them; the analysis suggests they had a couple of tenths of a second of performance over us there. We had a clear demonstration of that in the race, where Vettel got a better start than Mark and he wasn't able to do anything about it.
"On that basis I would expect the two Red Bull teams to be closely matched over the rest of the season."
