McLaren confirms Kovalainen for 2009

Heikki Kovalainen will also be racing with the McLaren Formula One team in 2009 the team has said. Kovalainen joined Lewis Hamilton at McLaren at the start of this season and scored 28 points so far.

During the team's presentation back in December the team did not reveal for how many seasons Kovalainen joined the team. The team still does not like to confirm if Kovalainen extended his contract or had an ongoing contract but does wish to confirm he will continue to race for the Woking based team. A McLaren spokesman told GPUpdate.net: "I can confirm that Kovalainen will race for us in 2009 but we can't say anything about any contract details."

Kovalainen is currently in his second season in Formula 1. He enjoyed his debut for the Renault F1 team in 2007.
