Lewis Hamilton was the fastest man on track at the Hungaroring on Friday. The Briton completed the fastest lap in 1.20.554 and was just ahead of Nelson Piquet and Heikki Kovalainen. Fernando Alonso ended fourth.

The second free practice session at the Hungaroring got under way at 14.00 on Friday afternoon. It didn't take long before both McLaren drivers topped the time sheets. After half an hour Lewis Hamilton already completed a lap faster than the fastest lap set in the morning by Felipe Massa. Hamilton managed to improve his fastest lap time later in the session.

Nelson Piquet jr., second place finisher at the German Grand Prix, ended the session in second with his team mate Fernando Alonso in fourth. A promising performance by both Renault drivers that managed to keep Ferrari behind them. Nelson Piquet had a little moment around the end of the session when the Brazilian spun his car coming out of Turn 1.

Williams F1 driver Kazuki Nakajima was the only driver with a light crash. The Japanese driver spun his car at the end of the session and touched the barriers with his rear wing gently.

For Sebastian Vettel it was an unfortunate day of testing in Hungary. The German's car failed on him early in the first session but in the second session the Toro Rosso driver had to park his car again with technical problems. Vettel completed just 5 laps in the afternoon.
